Entry costs €13 in recent listings. Ihlara Valley entry is €15. Both sites are included in the Turkiye MuseumPass. Children under 8 get in free.
Which is better Derinkuyu or Kaymakli?

How long does it take to walk Ihlara Valley?
The entire valley is 14 kilometers long. Most visitors hike a 3 to 4-kilometer section from the main entrance to Belisırma. This takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Do you need a guide for Derinkuyu?
You can enter without a guide. However, guided tours provide context on how 20,000 people lived underground. Most visitors go with a Green Tour guide.
How deep is Derinkuyu underground city?
The city plunges 85 meters into the earth. There are 8 illuminated levels accessible to the public today.
Is Derinkuyu safe for claustrophobia?
No. It requires navigating very low, narrow tunnels. It is not recommended for those with severe claustrophobia, bad backs, or mobility issues.
What is the Cappadocia Green Tour?
The Green Tour is a guided day trip covering southern Cappadocia. It bundles transport, Derinkuyu entry, Ihlara Valley hiking, and lunch.
How to get from Goreme to Ihlara Valley?
Book a guided tour or rent a car. Driving takes about 1.5 hours. Public transport requires multiple transfers and is not recommended.
Can I use the Museum Pass in Cappadocia?

Are there toilets inside the underground city?
No. You must use the facilities near the entrance before descending into the tunnels.
What temperature is it inside Derinkuyu?
Temperatures stay a constant 15–20°C (60-70°F) year-round. Bring a light jacket even in summer.
How many stairs are in Ihlara Valley?
You must descend nearly 400 steep stairs at the main canyon entrance. Wear sturdy walking shoes.
Which churches are open in Ihlara Valley?
Around 14 rock-cut churches are open to visitors. The most famous accessible one is Ağaçaltı Church, located near the main stairs.
How to get to Derinkuyu without a tour?
You can drive 30 minutes south from Nevşehir. You can also take a dolmuş (minibus) from Nevşehir, though this takes longer.
